As one who really likes C#, it is a bummer that most of the cool tutorials on the market (free/paid) tend to be GD Script. Which is fine, but it’s not really applicable outside of Godot at all. So instead of crawling with my tail between my legs back to Unity (or I could do more Monogame, as that was REALLY cool) I decided I’ll just follow these tutorials but for the scripting, I will convert everything to C#! That way, I can atleast put these on my resume as the code is technically my own. Plus, I am learning so much more about Godot 4 by doing this.
Is it taking longer? Sure.
Am I getting more out of it? Yes. Because I can’t passively just copy what the teacher says and call it ‘learning’.
Doing a flappy bird clone in this tutorial. And I’ve done a flappy bird clone in Unity form their learning sources. The cool thing I’m noticing is there are many fundamental design differences between the two approaches to the same game. I will write a follow up post with the differences and why they’re interesting to me.
